The Richemont Group's Finest?

Vacheron Constantin vs. A. Lange & Sohne

As most watch nerds know, Richemont is the premier conglomerate of watch brands.

Of course, the real juggernauts are the "independents" (a.k.a. Patek, Rolex, and AP) but beyond that holy trinity (pun intended), you cannot ignore Richemont.

Really impressive brands, from IWC and JLC to Cartier, are part of the family. The top two, however, are none other than Vacheron Constantin and A. Lange & Sohne.

Now, some of the most desirable watches in the world (at least right now) are ultra-premium steel sports pieces with blue dials. Take a look, for instance, at the mega-success of the Patek Nautilus and AP Royal Oak.

So, what is the Richemont's answer to this trend? The VC Overseas and Lange's Odysseus.

The video above, narrated by uber-expert Tim Mosso, pits the two against each other, and the results are interesting. (If you want to know more about the Odysseus, RRISTY has you covered: https://www.rristy.com/post/impressive-but-not-yet-iconic)

It's not everyday that someone refers to Vacheron Constantin as a "value" choice, but in the rarified air of this comparison, it's actually true.

And of course, the real winner here? Blue dials.
