La Vie en Rose...Gold

Sports watches in solid gold are, to put it politely, controversial. Thankfully, rose gold is there to smooth things over.

For some, they are simply ridiculous. Sports watches are supposed to serve a specific purpose – deep sea diving, tracking time zones, or timing laps – and come in a rugged, practical package. Hence the popularity of stainless steel Submariners, GMTs, and Daytonas.

As such, the whole idea of a "true sports" watch clad in precious metal is heretical; equal parts gaudy and impractical. Admittedly, sport watches in solid gold are bling, just begging for attention...but is that really so bad?

It isn't, and especially so in rose gold.

Like its champagne counterpart, rose is an alluring mixture. Often, it's a combination of yellow gold and copper (or, in the case of Rolex, trace amounts of platinum). With its subdued copper hue, rose is more understated than its yellow gold counterparts. Not only is it less conspicuous, it's also arguably better looking. And that's something worth celebrating.
