The SeaQ Panorama Date
The Glashütte SeaQ is one impressive piece.
At 43mm in diameter and 15-and-a-half mm thick, it cuts an imposing figure. Also, its sapphire crystal showcases a brilliant blue dial, and exhibits an intriguing in-house movement. And coming in at around $10k, it is anything but cheap.
PROS
Exemplary build quality and execution (especially on the steel bracelet)
Stunning blue dial with finely applied hour markers
Excellent movement architecture and finishing
Panorama "big date"and ceramic bezel
Good value & flies under the radar
CONS
Potentially too big for everyday wear
Uncertain re-sale value & flies under the radar
"This watch is perfection personified...It's superior to a Rolex Submariner Date. Really, this is like a dive watch that Patek Philippe would make. That is the level we're looking at here."
Per ablogtowatch, "The Glashütte Original Manufactory Calibre 36-13 offers an impressive 100-hour power reserve...(two full days longer than a Rolex Submariner) matched to a modern and sports-ready 4Hz operating frequency. A 21k-gold oscillation weight, rate adjustment through the variable moment of inertia screws in the balance wheel, a black-polished swan-neck fine adjustment spring, and a silicon hairspring extend the list of old-school and new-school horological prowess..."
Or, in the words of Bruce Williams, it offers"Excellent movement architecture...and a high level of finishing"
In terms of steel sports watches built for the water, it's better looking than a Nautilus and offers more substance than a similarly priced Submariner.
Impressive indeed.
